Saioa Olmo (Bilbao, Spain, 1976)
Lives and works in: Bilbao.

Artistic background

Graduated in Fine Arts. Did a Master in DZ Design Management. She makes artistic projects in relation to the social current events which intend to create an opinion or to provoke a debate: project “Emancipator Bubble” (2000-2004) about the late-coming emancipation of young people; project “Chi-Guay-Guay” (2002) about the young and the club culture; project “El destino: la autopista” (2000-2001) an installation in Medas service station and in the Cultural Centre of Montehermoso (Vitoria). As a recurrent theme in all her projects is the desire to make people participate and a preoccupation to reach a wide public. She uses many different ways to create, such as communication campaigns, songs and musical videos, photography series, installations, publications, actions, event organizations, web pages and sculptures.

Last exhibitions

Project “Emancipator Bubble”: kit-presentation in the Rekalde room, at the Cultural Centre of Montehermoso and at the Koldo Mitxelena. Presentation within the competition Open Madrid 2004, at the carnival of Madrid, at Canal Metro and at the Congress about Youth Politics 2003 in the Palacio Euskalduna.
